Acne - A Natural Way Of Treating It

by Dave Bern

Acne is not a skin condition that teenagers suffer from today, there are many adults who also suffer from this particular skin complaint as well. Luckily for these people there are now plenty of different treatments available to help deal with this problem and although effective some do contain chemicals which could be harmful to ones skin.

This is one of the reasons why so many people are now looking for more natural ways of treating their acne problem. Many of the natural acne treatments available today do not contain harsh or dangerous chemicals in their makeup. So the chances of your skin becoming dry or irritated by them are greatly reduced.

A lot of people feel that the natural acne treatments one can use do not seem as effective or work as quickly as prescription to over the counter medications for treating this condition are. But this is not the truth, yes it may take some time before you see positive results from using such natural treatments, but they still are as effective as any other medication for treating this skin condition are.

One natural treatment for acne that has proved to be very effective is tea tree oil. This oil is a golden color and is distilled using steam from the leaves from a number of different plants. In fact for many centuries now the people indigenous to Australia have been using tea tree oil not only for its medicinal properties but as a cosmetic as well.

The oil once distilled contains good anti-bacterial properties which allow it to help kill off the bacteria that results in acne forming under ones skin. However, this particular treatment because of its acidic qualities should never be applied to the skin in undiluted form. What one should do is mix one part of tea tree oil to 20 parts of water and then apply it directly to the area of skin that is affected by the acne.

In fact because of its effectiveness many acne products being produced today which contain benzoyl peroxide in them are being remade using tea tree oil instead. This is because the results it provides the user with are very similar to those of the chemical benzoyl peroxide and are certainly not as harmful.

Certainly if you are someone who has sensitive skin then using a product which contains tea tree oil would be far more suitable as it is much gentler on the skin. Also you will soon discover that using such products your skin is far less likely to dry out. However, if you want to moisture your skin as you treat it then use a mixture of tea tree oil with Aloe Vera.

Another one of the best acne treatments one should consider trying if you suffer from this skin condition is the spice turmeric. Again a completely natural product this one can be applied directly to the affected skin or can be taken orally as well. Although this does not contain anti-bacterial properties it does contain good antiseptic qualities instead.

If you want to take this natural treatment for acne orally, the best way to do so is mix some into a cup of warm milk. When it comes to applying the turmeric directly to the skin first make up a smooth creamy paste using some coconut or sesame oil then apply on the areas of your skin affected by the acne. It is best to allow it to remain on your skin overnight and so apply about twenty minutes before you go to bed. The next morning you will be amazed at the difference in the size of your acne spots and how much they have been reduced by.
